The Florida Department of Children and Families, Orlando Service Center, has been working in close relationship and communication with C & L, Inc. to provide services to those community residents who qualify. The organization's administration has expressed a willingness to formalize the relationship with a collaborative agreement, if necessary.

Programs & Activities

C & L, Inc. has developed the following programs in the last three (3) years for community members who are currently economically disadvantaged.

Objectives

  • Identify people in need throughout the Central Florida community

  • Identify potential sources of access to financial support for our clients (including and not limited to food, clothing, literacy and work/skill training, medical coverage and/or insurance, housing assistance, utilty and telephone assistance, school supplies, Social Security/disability)

  • Provide the support necessary to link those in need with available services through training, one-on-one guided applications and home visitation, as necessary.

1. Programs-Referral Services- (467 clients / 2009) Link individuals to public and private services that provide employment coaching, mental health counseling, housing and financial assistance programs.

2. DCF Partnership Services- (5,408 clients / 2009) Assist individuals in applying for DCF benefits including food stamps, cash assistance, Medicaid, and Nursing Home applications with Medicaid premiums paid by the state.

3. Partnership with PAL, with Summer Book Club- Partnership with Front Porch of Orlando, Holden Height with the back to school book bags program.

4. Community Education Services - (2,318 clients / 2009) Inform key community members, leaders and organizations about services available to residents to assist with food, clothing, shelter, education and health.

5. Employment or Unemployment - (1,132 clients / 2009)Assist customers to use computer for job search also apply for unemployment and claim weeks for unemployment.
